I have finally had a quiet moment to tell you about my experience at Shutterfest!! Each year around Easter , I have the privilege of attending one of the best photography conferences in the country. Shutterfest in St Louis Mo., is a conference where I not only get to learn from some of the best educators in the industry - with classes on business, to hands-on classes with models. I also get to spend two days catching up with good friends in the industry, learn new things and just have a great time.
This year, I had the privilege of taking classes with some amazing photographers. I started my experience with Clay Souza learning all about how to use one light to help get amazing portraits quickly on a wedding day. Learning all about how to best run my photography business from Clay was also very helpful. I also learned some new techniques to help my photography stand out above the rest from the talented Kiamarie Stone. At the end of the first day, Esteban Gil shared so much information on some innovative ways to provide the best customer service to my wedding clients (Be on the lookout for some new things) All of this was just the first day!
Day two started with another hands-on class taught by Vanessa Joy. She shared a wealth of information on posing couples and individuals to best portray the scene and the photographers final vision. I followed that up with another class on the business of wedding photography taught by the talented Ning Wong! From him, I took away a lot of new business tidbits that I can’t wait to implement.
Just to change it up, after lunch, I took a class on creating an amazing experience for my high school seniors from Jenn Lewis. It was an eye-opening class full of great information on ways to increase engagement from high school seniors and help them have an exciting session that is about them. My last class of the conference was all about how to have a successful website that visitors will enjoy. Joey Thomas shared so many helpful tips to help create a web site that clients can easily navigate and enjoy.
Of course it wasn’t all classes, there were vendors selling all varieties of photography equipment, albums, backdrops and even feather angel wings!! And best of all the opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones! I learned so much and had a great time catching up, already looking forward to next year!
A big thank you to all the amazing models that volunteered their time to make this a wonderful conference.
