Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Donovan!!
I had the privilege of photographing this lovely couples micro wedding. 2021 was a challenge for everyone that wanted to get married. Most dealt with cancellations, rescedules, vendor availability, and regulation changes. Alec and Carolyn were hoping for a simple ceremony, really just a courthouse elopement. But as it turned out with a courthouse elopement they would not be allowed to have even just a few attendees. This meant a change of plans, to a small backyard wedding at a friends house. They put together a lovely afternoon ceremony with just family to witness.
Alec and Carolyn had planed an outdoor wedding which in the Pacific Northwest that is a risky gamble. The forecast for the day was for scattered showers. All throughout the morning we indeed had showers move though the area. The hope was to have a break in the rain for their first look and portraits. And as luck would have it we had just enough time between showers to accomplish just that before the rain made another appearance.
Just as Carolyn started her walk down the aisle the clouds parted and they were able to have the short but sweet ceremony rain free. Rev Ray Van Winkle performed a lovely ceremony as the beautiful couple said their I do's. As the afternoon weather cleared the lucky couple was able to enjoy time with their families. Carolyn's uncle treated the guests with a beautiful traditional portuguese blessing as they enjoyed champagne and cake made by the bride's Aunt.
Since in some cultures rain on your wedding day can signify a lasting marriage, theses two should have a long and amazing marriage. We dodged rain all day and it was still beautiful enough to capture the picturesque photos below. So embrace the rain make it a part of your day, who says rain has to put a damper on your wedding.
